How to Make Homemade Stamps for Kids (with toilet paper rolls)
In this post learn how to make homemade stamps for kids with cardboard from your household item the toilet paper roll.
The toilet paper roll stamp
What kid doesn’t love a stamp? When you’re a kid, there is just something amazing about getting or doing a stamp.
When my daughter was younger, she was in a gymnastics class. At the end of each class the kids got 2 stamps on their hands. This was by far my daughters favorite part of the whole class. Forget that I paid my hard earned dollars for this wonderful class, she just wanted a stamp.
If you enjoy doing crafts with your kids, especially easy crafts, then start collecting toilet paper and paper towel rolls. Even if you don’t know what to do with them. There are so many easy crafts with a simple toilet paper roll.
(Luckily we use these huge paper rolls in our clinic so when we run out of those, I bring them home.)
This craft is no different.
I liked this craft because I got to use some of my creativity in coming up with stamp ideas. What was the coolest stamp I could make? My favorite, by far is the bear stamp from a toilet paper roll. Not going to lie, I was impressed with myself. haha.
Here is how you can make some easy stamps with toilet paper or paper towel rolls that your kids will love.

Instructions for toilet paper homemade stamps: (the long version)
The long version: with too many pictures, an exaggerated explanation, and all the tips, concerns, and opinions you can imagine.
Prepare this craft by cutting the toilet paper rolls into various shapes. You can get as creative or as least creative as you like with these stamps. You can go wrong. Even if it’s not an exact shape, the kids just love to stamp it.
The easy shapes are the circles, triangles, and hearts. You can kinda see how I shaped those. The heart you just push down on the top to make it curve in, then you just put a piece of tape at the point so it stays.
You do absolutely nothing for the circle, and for the triangle I did add a little tape to the back so it held its shape.
For the flowers, I just cut down the toilet paper roll. The trick when you cut them is to make sure they are all even. You can’t cut various lengths of flower petals because when you stamp it, some parts will be touching and others won’t. Where ever the toilet paper roll folds over, you want it all even. (They don’t have to be perfect, but it does make it easier).
The more complicated one is the bear and the fat man I did. Like I said, I’m pretty proud of my creation. haha. It might be easier to draw it out for how you need to cut it. This part is tricky, as you can see, I messed up the first time. You have to think backwards.
If I cut the first one, I would have had a bear with it’s head chopped off. You want it to fold up straight. You can really make any design this way. I tried to think of things that had a big belly, or big circle in the center of their shape.
Next draw up the legs and arms.
Then cut all around the legs, arms, and head. Make sure you leave the fold.
Cut off the excess between the legs and the head, and the legs and the arms.
Then fold over. Now you have your homemade toilet paper bear stamp.
I also made a butterfly by taping two rolls together at the center.
I was so proud how creative my daughter was; she turned this into a flower.
Once you have all your cut outs ready, you can start painting.
You can either paint the stamp then stamp it, or dip it in the paint and stamp it. We did both.
Here is how some of our stamps turned out
After a while my son just started painting the stamps, and everything else he could find.
Making homemade toilet paper and paper towel roll stamps was really fun, simple, and easy, so start collecting those toilet paper rolls, or buy them on Amazon. haha.
