Why this Bat Craft is Perfect for Preschoolers
This headband bat craft is great for preschoolers because it’s super simple. The template allows you to make it as simple or advanced as you like. You can color and cut and paste, or literally just print, cut, and paste.
If you do decide to have preschoolers color it, just be aware that it is a lot of coloring. It might take them a while. Consider having them color just the face and bat wings.
This craft is great for practicing cutting skills. Or, you could cut out all the pieces ahead of time and just have them glue them all together. The kids will want to keep playing with it after you make it.
Bat Headband Craft Supplies Needed
The great thing about this craft is that you don’t need that many supplies. All you need is:

- Glue, tape, or stapler (or all three)
- Something to color with (optional)
- Scissors
- Construction Paper (optional)
How To Make a Bat Headband Craft for Preschoolers
Below is the step-by-step guide for creating this bat craft with preschoolers.
1 – Print Bat Headband Template
Print off the template. There are 2 different templates provided. One of the templates is for those who want to color it, or you can use it as a template and cut it out on construction paper. The other template is already colored for you, you just need to cut and glue.
2 – Color the Bat & Headband (Optional)
This step is optional, but if you printed out the white template, you will need to color it in with whatever you have. I recommend colored pencils, as it will turn out the best as far as lines go.
If you don’t want to color it, you can use it as a template to cut out the pieces onto construction paper. If preschoolers are doing it, I don’t recommend they color it. It is a lot of coloring and would take them a while. Another idea would be to let them color the wings and face, and then cut the band out of construction paper.
3 – Cut Out the Template
This step is simple, just cut out the template.
4 – Put Everything Together
Now you want to put the template together. You can use glue, or tape, or a stapler. I think a stapler would be best. It would be the most sturdy. You want to measure the size of the child’s head and then combine the band strips to match the size of the child’s head. I used double sided tape, which worked very nicely.
Attach the bat head to the front of the headband.
Lastly, attach the wings to the sides of the headband. One on each side. You want to do this by creating a small fold on the bottom of the wing and attaching that with glue, tape, or a staple, to the side of the headband
.
5 – Be a Bat
Now you have a fun headband to enjoy. These would be great to wear to a Halloween party. It could also be a great addition to a bat costume.
