By the time you finish this post you should have the best Mother’s Day gift ideas for your awesome mom.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s day is upon us. We all like to show the moms in our life how special they are to us, and I know moms look forward to this day!
Sometimes fathers and kids can feel the pressure of finding the perfect gift for mom. Most moms aren’t picky about what she gets, but more about the thought and effort put behind the gift. Most moms just want to feel loved, appreciated, and thanked for their hard work.
All I want on Mother’s Day is nice long nap!
It can be even more overwhelming if the kids are young and the pressure mostly falls on the dad to find the perfect gift.
Depending on your mom’s personality, it might differ from others in what you should get her for Mother’s Day. I’ve compiled a list of different gift ideas for all different mom types, and they are super simple for dad.

The Best Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Homemade craft
You can’t go wrong with a homemade craft. Although this might seem cliche, Moms don’t get sick of receiving gifts made from the heart. Here are some easy, simple crafts to make, but can make a big difference:
Hand Print art- You can do just about anything with hand print art. Just smack their hand into some paint and slap it on aprons, paper, t-shirts, cards, tablecloths, you name it! Here are just a few of my favorite ones: Hand print bouquet, Hand prints that make a heart (you could hand make this or buy it on Etsy), Hand prints in clay, Hand print flower pot, Hand print key chain, or Hand print tote bag. Maybe one of these ideas can inspire your process and come up with your own hand print craft to fit your mom’s style.
Decorate a frame and add a cute picture. You could buy a plain frame at the store and paint it, or you can even find frames that already have mom sayings on it, just add a cute picture (like the one below). Here are a few of homemade frame ideas: Homemade flower frame for mom, Yarn wrapped picture frames, or this super easy magnetic popsicle stick picture frame.
Shrinkies– There is such a thing as shrink paper, and it’s amazing. This is great for any craft, but you can make it special for Mother’s Day. Have the kids color anything: their name, moms name, just the word mom, a heart, just one of their awesome coloring(s). Then you bake them, and they shrink really tiny. You can add these to a key chain or to decorate a frame. They are super easy, and super cool.
If you need more craft ideas, here are A LOT of them.

Necklace or bracelet with kids names or charms
Again, this might be cliche, but what mom doesn’t like to show off their kids? Don’t just pick out any old charm bracelet, think about what she likes and get something according to her taste. If she doesn’t ever wear jewelry, or straight up despises it, this may not be the best choice for her.
If it is a good choice, I really like the Pandora charm bracelet, it has so many charm options. I also love the this kind with the barrel clasp, and it’s a little cheaper. You can find all kinds of charms to add to this kind of bracelet.
Making mom breakfast in bed
Easy and simple. Pick out her favorite breakfast meal and make it before she wakes up in the morning. Have the kids participate. Maybe make it extra special by adding some flowers, delivering breakfast with a card, or having the kids be a the waitress/waiter.
Homemade care package
Create a homemade care package that includes a night of alone time and self-care. Even go as far as to create a date and put it on the calendar. Make sure you clear your evening and let her enjoy a couple hours of relaxation.
Things to include in your care package:
Lotion
Face Masks
Bubble Bath– Lavender is one of the best bubble baths, and it includes Epsom salt.
Shaving Cream– And if you know her favorite razor, that’s a plus.
Candle– If you get a candle, get a good one. Anything from Bath and Body works is perfect!
Body Wash– Bath and Body works also has some of the best body wash.
Socks– If your mom is always cold, Fleece socks are the best. I LOVE these.
Silk Pillow Case– These are great to sleep on for your hair and a good nights sleep. Not something a mom would buy for herself, but a nice gift.
A fun card
Make a fun card. Homemade cards are special. Here are some great card ideas:
Create a card with questions to ask your kids, then have them (or you) write the answers to their questions. I have had a few of these as gifts for Mother’s Day, and I look back on them with such love! Love these cards.
Use the name Mother or your mom’s real name and make an Acronym out of it describing her positive traits. Have the kids decide what words to use to make it more interesting.
I love you to pieces card. Super cute, easy to make, the kids will love it, and mom will be impressed.
Here are some more great card ideas for young kids.
Make a T-shirt
Buy a cheap t-shirt from Wal-mart and have the kids decorate it with fabric paint, or fabric markers.
World’s Best Mom Notes Jar
This is such a sweet idea. Have the kids decorate a jar and then write on slips of paper all the things they love about their mom. Make sure dad includes some too. You could have her read them all on Mother’s Day or make her only pick one a day for a month, week, or once a week for a whole year! These are constant reminders of how much she is loved.
Mom Coupons
Have the kids make or decorate homemade Coupons for mom. She can use these whenever she wants. Make sure dad throws a couple in too. Here are some examples of what to put on the Coupons: (Or you can buy some pre-made coupons that I’ve made, which you can also customize!)
Doing the dishes every night for a week
Breakfast in Bed
Taking care of dinner for the weekend
A Private Pee
A big kiss
A chore of mom’s choosing
Foot Massage
Car Wash
Doing Nails
Book
If your mom loves to read, finding a good book is a great idea. Books that you can fill out for her with prompt questions, or that she fills out are always great, or finding a book about moms. Not all moms love the inspirational, lovey dovey books, but I do. A nice journal. Here are some great book ideas:
Mom, I want to hear your Story is a book with prompt questions to document her life memories. This is a great treasure to pass onto kids later.
The Mom Appreciation book also gives prompts, but for the kids to fill out. This would be a great activity to do with the kids to give to mom.
Chicken Soup for the Soul: Mother’s style. Who doesn’t like inspirational stories?
Or, just buy one of her favorite genre of books. A great idea to find out is by asking some of her friends. If she’s a journal-er, that’s also another great idea. You can never have too many journals. There are some pretty awesome journals out there: self-love journals, birthday journals, emotions journal, gratitude journals, and so much more. Check out promptly journals for more ideas.
Personalized Gifts
You can personalize just about anything these days. Some great websites are Shutterfly, where you can put a photo on just about anything or Things Remembered, which is a great resource for personalized things. Or if you’d like to make your own, just buy an item and have the kids decorate it themselves. Here are some great ideas:
Mugs
T-shirts
Handbags
Blankets
Bracelet: This bracelet is made from your own handwriting. Have the kids write something for their mom, and then make a bracelet out of it.
Key chain
Buy a key chain that has a cute inspirational quote on it for mom, or a personalized one.
Nap
This might seem too simple, but if your mom has young kids at home, she’s tried. Maybe surprise her with a scheduled nap for the day. If she’s not much of a napper, this might not be the best idea for her.
Clean the House
Get the house in tip top shape without the kids whining or complaining. (I know, I know, but maybe if they know they’re doing it for a good cause they can tone down the whining). If mom doesn’t have to worry about the house for a day, she’s happy. You could also add laundry on top of that.
Bake a Cake
Bake a cake, or anything. Maybe mom’s favorite dessert. Have the kids participate.
Make a Video
Have the kids make a video for her. It could be a music video, an interview asking them questions about her, or just a compilation of their daily craziness and cuteness.
I hope you find something here that gives you a Mother’s Day gift idea(s)! You can’t go wrong if love is behind it!

Aurarua recently posted…Hello world!
Thank you, I agree!
I have at least 15 bracelets (2 sterling bracelets from the 1940’s that were my mom’s. She gave them to me when I was a little girl. That’s where my love of charm bracelets started.
That is so sweet! What a precious gift.
