How To Make a Caterpillar With Paper Plates: Step-By-Step Instructions

  • First, you want to cut your paper plate in half and then cut out the center so that you have just one side of the bumpy part that looks like a banana.

  • Then color your paper plate however you’d like. You could also do designs on it. This will be the body of your caterpillar.

  • Color the template: the log, leaves, and face. You have the option here to use the template as a pattern and cut out the pieces onto construction paper. You could also not use the template and make your own from your imagination, as pictured in my photos. You could also do googly eyes on your caterpillar. Let your imagination run wild!

  • Glue everything together. Again, you can glue it together however you want. I put my leaves on my log and then kind of centered my caterpillar to my log. You’ll also want to glue the face onto the caterpillar’s body.

What Age Is This Craft Good For?

This craft is good for toddlers to ten year-old’s. It’s easy enough for toddlers and fun enough for older kids. To make it easier on toddlers you could cut out everything beforehand, just let them do the coloring and gluing. To make it harder for the older kids, have them design and draw their own log, leaves, and face and then cut them out.
