Playing games as a family around Christmas is one of our favorite things to do! With this Christmas Pictionary printable game you can play with your family, in your classroom, or with friends at a party.
Plus, it’s a two-for-one game. You can also play charades with the cards. You don’t need much and you can download it instantly. Let’s review everything you need to know about how to play.
What Is Christmas Pictionary?
Christmas Pictionary is just like normal Pictionary except it’s all about Christmas! What could be better!?
Pictionary is a game where you pick a card and it has a word or phrase on it. One person draws while their team tries to guess what it is before the time runs out.
What You Need To Play
To play Christmas Pictionary you will need Christmas-themed Pictionary cards, a pencil, and some paper. If you have a whiteboard and some dry-erase markers, you could use that instead of paper.
I think a whiteboard works better, but it’s not a necessity. You will also need a timer.
How To Play Pictionary
- Cut up the Christmas-themed Pictionary cards.
- Place them in a hat, bowl, or anything that you can draw cards from.
- Split up into 2 teams.
From here there are 2 different ways to play. Here’s the first way:
- Draw one card and have one person from each team draw what is on the card for their team. They each draw at the same time and from the same card.
- Set the timer for 1-2 minutes (depending on skill level). The drawer from each team has to draw what was on the card on either a whiteboard or a piece of paper. Each team tries to guess what is being drawn. The drawers cannot use numbers or letters.
- The first team to guess it wins a point. They have to guess it before the time runs out. If no one does, then no one gets a point. You continue around the room until everyone has had a turn drawing.
- The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. You can end the game by going through all the cards, setting a timer, or letting each person go once or twice.
Here is another way you can play:
- Team number one goes first and picks a person to be the drawer. They draw what is on their card and try to get their team to guess. Team number two doesn’t do anything but watch.
- Team one must get the answer before the timer runs out, or they don’t get the point. If they do guess it, they get a point.
- After team one goes, then team two has a turn drawing and guessing. If they get it before the time runs out, they get a point.
- The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. You can end the game once everyone has had a turn from each team, by a time limit, or when all the card are gone.
