You can’t have the 4th of July without fireworks, so of course I have to do a firework craft. This one is so simple! You probably have the supplies on hand.
This craft is easy enough for toddlers and makes for a fast prep time. The “hardest” part is probably twisting the pipe cleaners together. Let’s get started learning how to create a fun pipe cleaner fireworks craft for the 4th of July with some pipe cleaners and paint.

Pipe Cleaner Fireworks Craft Supplies
Any type of paint will do for this craft. Water based might be the best just in case your kids make a mess because it’s easy to clean up. We used acrylic because it’s what I had on hand. 4th of July colors look best, I think, but you can use any! Here is a list of the supplies you will need:
- Pipe cleaners
- Paint (preferably 4th of July colors)
- Paper plates
- Paper (any paper will do, cardstock would probably be best because it’s thick)
- Glitter (optional)
Step By Step Pipe Cleaner Fireworks Craft Instructions
Here are the super simple step-by-step instructions for creating a pipe cleaner fireworks craft. I’ve included images to make it even easier to understand how to do this craft with your kids.
Step 1
Prepare for this craft by twisting together some pipe cleaners to look like fireworks. Fold them in half and then twist the folded ends together. Cut the ends so that they are about 2-3 inches long. (Or however long you want your firework to be). If the fireworks are too long, you won’t get very many on the page.
Step 2
Put dobs of paint onto a paper plate. Use only one color per paper plate. If you want three colors, use three different plates.
Step 3
Dip the firework pipe cleaner into a color of your choosing. Then, use it like a stamp and place it onto the plain piece of paper.
Step 4
Stamp over and over again in different directions and colors to make fireworks.
Step 5 (Optional)
Apply glitter before it dries, if you want to add a little sparkle. Also, if you are afraid to use glitter because of the clean up, check out this super useful glitter pick up cloth.
