My daughter loves to decorate…just about anything, BUT especially for holidays. I should get more into decorating for every holiday and not just Christmas. I love Christmas decorations! Just the other day my daughter came up to me and said she wanted to do a craft with me for Halloween, and possibly a ghost, that she could hang up in her room.
WOW, very specific. I started thinking and realized I got just the thing. We could make a cotton ball ghost. In this article I cam going to take you through how we made a cute Halloween cotton ball ghost that you can hang anywhere in the house for this Halloween season.

Why I Love this Cotton Ball Ghost Craft
All of this is made possible because I keep my kid’s craft box and full of simple supplies for moments like these. My kids don’t like doing crafts every day, but when they do, they want to jump on it…NOW!
I like to do it when they are feeling like it because I have more of their attention, their more engaged, and they are excited about every little thing about the craft. It’s great! For this craft you only need about 3 supplies, which you probably have on hand. It’s super simple and they make great Halloween decor.
Cotton Ball Ghost Supplies
- Cotton Balls (one of the best places to get cotton balls is the Dollar Store)
- Construction Paper
- Ghost template (optional)
- Googly eyes (optional, you could just use construction paper)
- Scissors
- Glue or Mod Podge (I like Mod Podge because it sticks better)
How To Make a Halloween Cotton Ball Ghost
Let’s take a detailed look at the step-by-step instructions for creating an easy cotton ball ghost craft with your kids.
Step 1:
Cut out your ghost from your construction paper. Ghosts aren’t perfect, so you could cut it however you like. I just rounded it at the the top and did squiggles on the bottom. If you need a template, you can download my ghost template.
Step 2:
Using googly eyes, glue eyes on your ghost. My kids wanted their ghosts to have many eyes, so they glued on a ton. You could also cut out some eyes with construction paper and glue them on.
Step 3:
Cut out some more construction paper to make a mouth. My daughter wanted her ghost to be surprised, and my son wanted a happy face. Glue the mouth to the ghost.
Step 4:
With your glue or mod podge, start applying the cotton balls all over the ghost. You can do this in a pattern, randomly, or squeeze as many on as you can.
Here’s how ours turned out:
Now it’s time to take your completed cotton ball ghost and use it to decorate for Halloween!
These make great décor for your kids room. We hole punched a hole in the top and then hung them with some yarn over their beds. I also taped the top of the hole so the weight of the ghost wouldn’t rip the hole. My kids have enjoyed looking at their Halloween cotton ball ghosts every night.
