I believe the best way we can help our kids survive this crazy life is through gaining a relationship with God. It has made ALL the difference in my life, so I hope to pass that onto my kids. It’s not an easy thing to teach because you can’t make your kids feel something. However, teaching a child to pray and how to pray is the first step in helping them create a real lasting relationship with God.
Using a visual at prayer time can help your little one make prayer more of a tangible thing. That’s why I have created different prayer chart printables to help with this. These different charts can help kids learn what to pray for and how to pray. Creating good prayer habits while your kids are young will set them up for success in the future.
What Is a Prayer Chart?
There are several different types of prayer charts. There are charts that teach you how to pray, what to pray for, and help you keep track of your prayers. I have several different types of prayer charts that we have used in one way or another in our house. They have helped my kids learn to pray and grow in their prayers.
Types of Printable Prayer Charts
The prayer chart printables I’m sharing in this post are ones to help kids keep track of their prayers, keep track of what to pray for, how to pray, and a prayer challenge to help improve their prayers. You can download my prayer challenge for FREE by signing up below. All these prayer charts can be found in my shop.
1 – Prayer Chart List For Kids
Do you ever say you’re going to “keep someone in your prayers”, but then you forget to pray for them? I think we all do. A prayer chart list is great for keeping track of things we want to remember to pray for. This chart is even perfect for adults too.
Write down the people or things you want to pray for each day or night. Then, hang it up somewhere you see it each time before you pray. In my family we hang one above the bed. This also helps kids remember to pray for others and not just the things they want and need.
2 – Prayers For a Month Challenge Calendar
This is one of my favorite prayer printables. This is perfect for anyone looking to switch up their prayers. I think as humans we tend to get into a routine and pray for the same thing each night. We get super repetitious in our prayers.
Not that praying for the same thing is bad, but sometimes we might just say what we’re saying out of habit, instead of desire. This 1-month challenge gives you something different to pray for, for 30 days. Hang it up where you pray each night and pick something off of it to pray for. You can click here to download this for FREE.
Another great way to learn to pray for different things is to make a prayer jar. You can get everything you need to do that by clicking here.
3 – Prayer Spinner
The prayer spinner is a fun way to teach kids how to pray. It’s a prayer craft that you can turn into a spinner. It’s a perfect craft for little kids just learning to pray. You can easily use this in Sunday school or at home.
And if you need other printables that help teach kids to pray checkout the rainbow prayer craft, the hand prayer craft, or the prayer cube.
4 – Prayer Tracker
The prayer tracker is a perfect chart to turn into a challenge for your child. You can challenge them to pray everyday and keep track of it. Buy them some stickers and have them place a sticker for everyday they say their prayers. It’s a fun way to remember to pray and make it a habit.
5 – Prayer Journal
Technically, this isn’t a chart. But I thought I’d include it because in a way it is set up as a chart, and it’s something you can use everyday. The printable includes 3 pages, but you could print off multiple copies of it and use it for a month or a year.
This is perfect for slightly older kids who can start to see God in their lives. Included is a daily and weekly prayer journal page. It includes question boxes like:
- How I saw God today
- What I’m grateful for
- Answered prayers
- Who to pray for
How To Use a Prayer Chart
Use any of the prayer chart printables listed above to help your kids learn to pray, create a habit of praying, remembering who to pray for, and learning to see the hand of God in their life. I recommend printing out the chart and placing it in a place they see everyday, preferably where they typically pray everyday. You could also do these charts as a family and place it where you pray as a family every day.
If you print out the journal, consider printing multiples and putting them into a binder and placing it next to their bed where they can write in it every night. If you are encouraging your little one to complete one of these charts, you might consider doing one yourself or along with them for support. Plus, you never know what you will learn along the way. Make sure you follow up with your child as they work with the chart to help keep them accountable.
