Why You Should Use Printable Prayer Activities For Kids
Prayer activities are a perfect way to teach prayer to kids. Sometimes the logic of prayer is very hard to grasp, especially with young kids. It takes them a while to develop a relationship with God. However, the sooner they can learn it, the better off they will be.
Different activities can bring prayer to life for them, so they can understand it a little better. It’s also a way to teach them how to pray. Sometimes kids can struggle with praying because they don’t know what to say, but learning more about it helps them to know and be more confident in their prayers.
Printable Prayer Activities & Games For Kids
There are several different ways to teach kids to pray and to help them learn about prayer. Use the printable prayer activities for kids below will make teaching your child about prayer fun, easy, and interactive. Let’s review them.
Prayer List
Create a prayer list with your kids so they can remember people and things to pray for. Prayer lists also help kids think of other things to pray for instead of their typical everyday prayers.
Prayer Cube
This cube is a fun craft for kids and even toddlers to put together. The idea is that you roll it (like a dice) and whatever it lands on, you pray for. Prayer cubes are perfect for toddlers just learning to pray. You could also keep rolling it and praying for different things. It’s great practice.
Prayer Activity Page
This is just a fun activity page about prayer. It can be used for a great introduction to prayer.
Prayer Chart/Challenge
This prayer chart is great for helping kids pray for different things. Sometimes we can get stuck in saying the same thing in our prayers, and I think it’s even harder for kids because they don’t know what to say sometimes.
This gives you a different topic to pray about every day for 30 days. You can download it for FREE below.
Prayer Spinner
The prayer spinner helps kids learn to pray. As they spin it, it tells them what to do next. This makes a fun craft.
You can color, cut, and assemble it. Then, hang it up somewhere in your home. There are 2 different versions, a girl and a boy.
Prayer Jar
The prayer jar is a fun way to pray together as a family. It comes with over 40 prayer prompts. The prompts print on a regular-sized paper, but then you can cut the slips out, fold them up, and put them in a jar.
Draw a prompt every day or night before you pray. It’s another great way to teach kids what to pray for. This can also be an individual activity or you can even use it in Sunday School.
Prayer Journal
The prayer journal is more geared toward school-aged kids and even older kids. It includes two different versions, one that can be done every day and one that can be done every week. This is a great way to build a relationship with God.
It asks questions like “How did you see the hand of God today?” and “What were your answered prayers”. These are great to ponder on daily or weekly.
It also includes a little letter to God, which is great for just writing out their prayers and thoughts. I have done this in my own journal, and I feel like it is a game-changer when it comes to talking to God.
Prayer Rainbow
The prayer rainbow is a fun craft to teach kids what to pray for and how to pray. There are 3 different crafts that include ways to pray and what to pray for. It’s a fun coloring sheet and a great addition to any lesson or family activity.

How To Pray For Kids Using Printable Activities
I believe the best way to use these printable prayer activities for kids is to talk about prayer, and what it is, maybe include a short scripture or two, and then do the activity with them. You can even switch it up and do the activity as an introduction to prayer, and then discuss it together. You can possibly discuss it while kids are doing the activity.
Some great scriptures are:
- 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
- Philippians 4:6–7
- 1 John 5:14–15
- Matthew 6:9–13
- Mark 11:24
Encourage your kids to hang (if hangable) the activity somewhere, so they see it often. Some of the activities are a daily exercise. I would remind them to do it every day or week and even do it with them or as a family or in Sunday School class. Consistency is key.
