Salted Painting Easter Egg Craft for Kids with FREE Template
Create a fun Easter egg craft with your kids this Easter with this simple salt painting technique.
Easter Eggs
I recently discovered salt painting and I LOVE it. It’s so relaxing, kind of like rock painting! You can literally do this type of painting with any painting that you do. I feel like it can also be less messy, but that probably depends on the kid! 🙂
This would be a great alternative to dyeing Easter eggs, and probably a lot more fun for the kids. We might do that, but we’ll see what the kids want to do.
You need the liquid glue to do salt painting. I think the clear glue looks best, but whatever you have will work great! I also recommend some paper plates to catch some of the salt because that part can be kind of messy.
Here’s how we did it.

Salted Painting Easter Egg Craft
Supplies:
Water
Salt
Glue (You can use any liquid glue (glue sticks won’t work), I think the clear glue is best!)
Water Paint (if you don’t have water paint, you can water down any paint)
Template (download below)
Instructions:
Print off the template and cut out the eggs.
You can color the eggs before you put glue on them, we didn’t.
Put the glue on the Easter egg in any pattern that you’d like. This pattern will become what you paint, so draw with the glue what you’d paint on the egg. You want to be generous with the glue, but also not make puddles.
Pour the salt onto the glue. I recommend putting a paper plate beneath the egg so it catches all the salt.
Let the glue dry for a couple of minutes.
Use your paint to paint the salt. It makes a pretty cool effect and is super fun!
Now you have cute Easter eggs. You can easily turn these into cards to give away, or party invitations.
Happy Easter!
