Fun and Simple Shaving Cream Learning Activity for Preschoolers
Create a simple shaving cream learning activity for your preschooler.
Shaving Cream
Shaving cream has a lot of purposes, but it’s puffy consistency makes it a fun medium to play with. Did you ever do shaving cream balloons in school for field day? I’ve never tried to fill balloons with shaving cream, but I imagine it’s tedious work. I also feel like they would be super hard to pop!
There are so many fun things to do with shaving cream, and learning letters and numbers is one of them. I did this activity with my preschooler and 7 year old, and they both loved it. I thought it would be a 20 minute activity, but it turned into a 60 minute activity. They just loved it!
Here’s how we did it.
Shaving Cream Learning Activity
Supplies:
Shaving Cream
Cookie sheet (or something like it)
Instructions:
Fill the cookie sheet with shaving cream. Let the kids get their hands dirty and move the shaving cream around the cookie sheet so that it covers it.
With direction from you, have the kids make a letter in the shaving cream. You can call out random letters, do the ABCs in order, or let them pick the letters.
Just have fun with it!
Alternatives for Shaving Cream Fun
You could do numbers instead of letters.
You could also do shapes.
Let the kids draw a picture or faces.
You can also turn shaving cream into a sensory bin by filling a bowl or bin with shaving cream and then throwing in various items or toys and letting your kids play.
Another great idea is to use plastic letters by throwing them in the bowl of shaving cream and having your kids fish for them.
You really can’t go wrong!
