Rainbows

Who doesn’t love rainbows!? My kids LOVE them. They pick rainbows over any other “color” or pattern. So I felt it appropriate to do a rainbow craft with them.

I’ve decided that I like doing crafts with tissue paper, it is just so easy to work with and can create awesome things. We made heart suncatchers with tissue paper! And tissue paper is the easiest thing to glue, and let me tell ya, that matters!

This craft was no different. I loved this craft because it basically made a rainbow come to life in 3D. It just looks and feels cool. I also think this makes a great preschool craft to help kids learn their colors!

This craft cost about $3.00 dollars or less, and you might already have the supplies at home, or you can get them all at the dollar store!

Here’s how we did it.

Tissue Paper Rainbow Instructions:

To prepare, print out Rainbow Template. Then, cut up a bunch of tissue paper into squares. You will need all of the rainbow colors. A half a single sheet of each color will do the trick.

First, apply glue to a section of the first row on the rainbow.glue on tissue paper

Start adding the red tissue squares onto the applied glue by first crumbling them up. This part is meant to be “messy” the tissue paper doesn’t need to go perfectly onto the paper. It’s supposed to be almost 3D looking and ruffle-ly.

Continue the same process for all the rows of the rainbow with it’s corresponding color. (There is an extra row, you can do another row of purple, or leave it blank, or color it, be creative!

Once you have completed putting on the tissue paper, apply some glue to the clouds and glue on the cotton balls. Apply the cotton balls by stretching them, almost tearing them apart. You want them to be thin and cloud-like!

Now you have a cute little rainbow! Hang on the fridge or window for all to see. You could also use it in preschool to sing the rainbow song, or to learn colors.
