Recycled Toilet Paper Rolls
Save all the toilet paper rolls you can! I am a toilet paper roll Nazi in our house. I hoard them all, and if someone thinks about throwing one away they get the wrath! haha. 😉
There are so many different crafts you can do with toilet paper rolls. Including homemade stamps, flowers, and snowflakes. It just makes the perfect craft supply.
However, if you’d rather not save them up, you can also buy them on Amazon. They also have colored ones.
This was a fun craft to do. The kids felt like they were able to put their own creativity into it, which always makes us happy. After we were done they started naming them and played with them all that afternoon.
There is a FREE Butterfly Wings Template included with this craft, but you can also make your own butterfly wings if you prefer.
Here’s how we did it.
How to Make Toilet Paper Butterfly Craft
Supplies:
- Toilet paper roll
- Butterfly Wings Template (with 2 wings to choose from)
- Cardstock (if you have it)
- Googly Eyes (could be optional)
- Buttons (or any other decorating items you have)
- Scissors
- Paint and Paint Brush
- Glue
- PenÂ
Instructions:Â
First, paint your toilet paper roll with the color of your choosing.
Once it is dry, you can start the next part. Cut out the butterfly template and trace it onto your cardstock paper, and cut that out. You can make your own butterfly wings out of any type of paper, including construction paper. The cardstock just makes it so they aren’t so flimsy. You could also do a white cardstock so you can paint your wings.Â
Glue the butterfly wings to the toilet paper roll.
Glue the googly eyes to the toilet paper roll (unless you desire to put them somewhere else like my daughter did). If you don’t have googly eyes, you can draw them on.Â
Glue the buttons onto the butterfly wings (or where ever you’d like to put them). You can also use any other embellishments you might have like tissue paper, stickers, foam, paper pieces, pom poms, the possibilities are endless. You could also paint on a design if you wanted.
Draw on the mouth and antennas. (if you don’t have googly eyes, you can also draw on eyes).Â
Now you have a cute little butterfly craft. Hang them from the ceiling and watch them “fly”. Or just let the kids play with them all day!
Happy Spring!
