Fun Weather Activities for Preschoolers that are Super Simple
Teaching the weather to preschoolers can be fun and easy, especially with these weather activities for preschoolers.
Weather Activities
My son does not understand why he has to wear a coat when it’s cold outside. He never wants to bring it, but then 30 minutes down the road, he’s suddenly freezing! He might have learned that lesson the hard way! haha.
Learning the weather is one of the first things preschoolers can learn. Weather impacts what they wear, where they go, and how they feel. So, they are really learning about way more than the weather.
Weather activities can be something simple you do each day for just a few minutes at the beginning of preschool, or when they first get up for the day! Repetition really is key!
Here are a few things we’ve done. These activities are especially great if you are doing your own at-home preschool. You can find out what we do here, and how to create your own schedule.

How should you dress
Most kids don’t connect the dots that if it’s cold outside, they need to put on warm clothes. Have them pick out their clothes according to the weather. You could also have them practice by dressing the person activity.
You can do this by downloading the activity Dress for the Weather, or you can do it with a teddy bear or barbie if you have one that has clothes. You could also draw different people with different clothes according to the weather.
What is the weather today?
Simply ask them everyday what the weather is. Is it sunny? Cloudy? Rainy? Having visuals makes it easy for them to see and learn. You can download my visual here, or create your own.
Weather and Seasonal Coloring Pages
Sometimes it’s as easy as coloring. It’s good for kids to get a visual of things associated with each season. These coloring pages are full of visual images that are associated with each season.

Science Experiment
Depending on their age, you could do a fun science experiment that shows how rain works! They may not fully understand all the science, but they could get the gist. Here is a fun science experiment that we love: The cloud and Raindrops experiment.
Weather Activities for Preschoolers
I have done all these simple activities with my kids when they were (and are) preschoolers. They always enjoyed doing it and looked forward to dressing the person, or looking outside and discussing the weather.
